Share a workout routine together.

Recruit your partner to join a gym with you. A gym membership is not only a great way to start up a workout routine, it’s a way to spend time with your partner who also seeks a healthier lifestyle. Agree that you will help each other maintain a regular workout program. It’s much easier to stick to a schedule when you have the encouragement of a workout partner and share similar goals.

Included in a membership, your gym may offer an abundance of classes including spin class, aerobics, yoga or sports conditioning. Classes are usually held at various dates and times to fit even the busiest schedules. Discuss the options and encourage your partner to participate with you. If you do not agree on a class to take, alternate from week to week so each partner can choose something that appeals to him/her.

Plan an active weekend getaway or vacation.

There are many ways to incorporate fitness into a trip with your partner. There are many physical activities to consider if you are planning a trip to the mountains including skiing, snowboarding, biking, backpacking or mountain climbing. If a beach resort is your destination, make it a point to spend time swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or walking on the beach. Most resorts have tennis courts, workout facilities and pools to encourage physical activities. Many destinations across the world now offer walking tours on which you walk between historical monuments, shopping districts, or wineries, depending on your city of choice. This is a fantastic way to incorporate a comfortable workout into a romantic getaway!

Join a recreational sports team.

What better way to connect with your partner and work together as a team – than by joining a team! There is a vast selection of sports from which to choose including softball, volleyball, bowling or soccer. Joining a team for fun is a great way to stay in shape while giving you the chance to bond with your partner and meet other couples. Plus, with a pre-determined schedule and others depending on your attendance, you are more likely to show up for your “workout” regularly. If sports aren’t really your thing, join a walking, running or swimming club together.

Dance!

If you enjoy dancing, plan dates to go to a dance club or night club with a dance floor. Swing, ballroom, urban or line dancing are all great ways to get moving and be in step with your partner. If you are new to dancing, sign up to take lessons together. Dancing is fun, active and a good way to practice how you communicate with one another.

Take a walk.

Walking and holding hands can be romantic whether you’re on the beach or in the city. Setting out in the fresh air and moving is great for your health and romance. It is free, easy and provides a time for just the two of you.
